Budoni – the hinterland

The municipality of Budoni also includes a few pretty little villages in the hinterland, which we’ll briefly introduce here.

Muriscuvò is a small village nestled on a mountainside. From here, there is a wonderful view across the whole of Budoni Bay. This is where Sardafit’s House No. 103 is located.

Limpiddu is a picturesque little village with a typically Sardinian atmosphere. There are shops here and a village square with an outdoor café. The locals are very hospitable, and anyone who fancies a visit to the village bar will find it easy to strike up a conversation. In Limpiddu, you can rent Sardafit Houses Nos. 106–108.

Luttuni, picturesquely situated on a hillside, was an abandoned shepherds’ village until it was roused from its slumber a few years ago. Today, all the shepherds’ cottages have been restored, and a few new houses have been added. Nevertheless, Luttuni has retained its rustic charm. This is where the Sardafit houses Nos. 111–116 are located.

Maiorca lies approximately 4 km from Budoni on the slopes of a range of hills. The magnificent panoramic location, overlooking Budoni beach and the sea, is likely the reason why, alongside a few locals, many holidaymakers have purchased holiday homes here. To get to Budoni, you will definitely need a car here. This also opens up the possibility of driving, for example, to the nearby S. Teodoro with its famous La Cinta beach.  Sardafit’s house No. 119 is located in Majorca.

Houses 175–179 belong to Tanauella. The history of this village goes back a long way, and it used to be the heart of the community. Tanauella’s houses are picturesquely clustered around a hill not far from the sea.  The short distance to the sea and the magnificent panoramic setting are the reasons why so many holiday homes have been built in Tanauella. As the majority of these are owned by locals, the area has retained its Sardinian charm. There are also restaurants and supermarkets open all year round, which we can wholeheartedly recommend.

Quick Facts

Beach: You can choose from a variety of beaches, ranging from fine, gently sloping sandy beaches to pebble and rocky beaches.

  • Doctor/pharmacy: Local pharmacy. “Guarda Medica” (= state health service) and local doctors; specialists 10 minutes’ drive away; hospital in Olbia, approx. 30 minutes away. (The service office provides assistance in emergencies!)

  • Bank: Locally, with an ATM available.
  • Shopping: A wide range of goods across all categories is available all year round in Budoni and the surrounding area.
  • Internet: From June 2017, mobile data roaming is regulated uniformly across the EU. The connection in the village and the surrounding area is very good almost everywhere. The Centro Servizi Tartaruga lends out routers, and Sardafit guests can also log in for free at various restaurants.
  • Nightlife: The Porto Ottiolu marina (5 km north of Budoni) in particular offers – depending on the season – an internationally oriented, sophisticated programme for all age groups, but even in Budoni itself, there is plenty to enjoy during the season.
  • Post office: In the village, with banking services.
  • Restaurants: A wide range available all year round, from ‘simple’ to ‘gourmet’. The restaurants on the beach are particularly lovely.
  • Sport: Boat hire, cycle hire, fishing, horse riding, sailing, surfing, diving, tennis. Nearest diving school in Porto Ottiolu. Golf in Punt’Aldia, 3 km north of S. Teodoro. There is also an airfield there for hang gliders and microlights, run by German management. (All subject to the season!)
  • Language course: In Posada, 6 km from Budoni , a small, lively language school opened in 2003, which also offers short courses.
  • Telecommunications: Mobile phone reception almost everywhere. Payphones in street cafés. Additional fax and telephone services provided by a German-speaking service office in the village.
  • Hiking: The local “Pro Loco” (= the municipality’s tourist office) offers a wide range of exploratory tours across the whole island. Sardafit’s service office organises, exclusively for its guests,  tours  into the unspoilt mountainous countryside, the highlight of which is a feast with Sardinian shepherds in the most beautiful countryside, boat trips to the offshore islands, the grand Sardinian wedding feast at a farmhouse in the countryside, and much more. A map is useful for walks into the hinterland, as there are no signposts away from the roads. Highly recommended: beach walks!
