Posada

Posada is a town steeped in history on the east coast. A mighty castle, the Castello della Fava, provided protection for the local farmers in the Middle Ages against raids by Saracens and pirates.

The village, which belongs to the ‘Club of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages’, is picturesquely situated on a hill in the midst of a fertile plain where wine, oranges and even peanuts are grown. Its steep, winding alleyways, lined with lovingly restored old houses, invite you to explore (provided you’re a keen walker). From the castle tower, for a small admission fee, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view.

Posada’s fine-sand, gently sloping beach, fringed by shady pine forests, is one of the most beautiful on the whole island.

Sardafit’s houses nos. 343 and 344 are situated on the plain near Posada, close to the beach and beautifully set amongst citrus groves and fields, .

Location: East coast, approx. 40 km south of Olbia. The journey from Olbia ferry terminal or airport takes about 40 minutes. A car is not essential for all properties.

Shopping: Good selection including fresh fish of all kinds in La Caletta; a small range of everyday groceries is also available in San Giovanni.
Internet: From June 2017, internet access is regulated uniformly across the EU. The connection in the village and the surrounding area is very good almost everywhere. The Centro Servizi Tartaruga lends out routers, and Sardafit guests can also log in for free at various restaurants.
Nightlife: In La Caletta, there is a programme catering mainly to locals for all age groups, available all year round.

Restaurants: A wide range of options available all year round, from ‘simple’ to ‘gourmet’, in San Giovanni, La Caletta and Siniscola.
Sport: Boat hire, bike hire, fishing, horse riding, sailing, surfing, diving and tennis in the surrounding area, e.g. La Caletta. (All subject to the season!)
Language courses: A small, dynamic language school opened in Posada in 2003, which also offers short courses.
Telecommunications: Mobile phone reception almost everywhere. Payphones in street cafés. Additional fax and telephone services provided by a German-speaking service office in the village.
Hiking: The local “Pro Loco” in Orosei (the municipality’s tourist office) offers a wide range of exploration tours across the whole island. Sardafits’ service office organises tours exclusively for its guests into the unspoilt mountainous hinterland, the highlight of which is a feast with Sardinian shepherds in the most beautiful countryside, boat trips to the offshore islands, the grand Sardinian wedding feast at a farmhouse in the countryside, and much more. For hikes in the mountainous hinterland around Sardinia’s highest peaks (1,800 m), a map is advisable as there are no signposts away from the roads. Highly recommended: beach walks!
