Orosei and Irgoli

These two places are ideal for anyone who wants to experience authentic Sardinia, away from the beaten tourist track. Enjoy the beautiful nature, the landscape and the warm hospitality of the Sardinians.

The Sardafit House 620 is located on the outskirts of the historic town of Orosei, one of the most charming places on the east coast. Its townscape is characterised by numerous medieval and baroque buildings, including no fewer than thirteen churches of art-historical significance. There is a wide range of bars, cafés and restaurants. The Guiso Museum in Palazzo Caserma Vezza is well worth a visit, with puppet theatres from the 18th to 21st centuries that will delight children and adults alike. South of Orosei lie the fascinating ruins of a Nuragic village.

A few kilometres inland, surrounded by impressive mountain scenery, lies the ancient shepherding village of Irgoli. Even today, the population here consists mainly of shepherds and farmers. Irgoli is famous for its typical Sardinian sausages, known as salsicce, which are delicious when served with pane carasau and one of the strong red wines produced in the village's surroundings. Those interested in culture should not miss the archaeological museum with finds from the nearby Nuragic sites. Nature lovers can hike through the protected forest of Talachè with its ancient holm oaks. On the outskirts of Irgoli is the Sardafit House 650.
