Geremeas
Anyone driving east along the coastal road from Cagliari will be captivated time and again by breathtaking panoramic views. Tucked away – and thus at a safe distance from the passing streams of tourists – a wide, two-kilometre-long dream beach suddenly comes into view: Geremeas.
A tip for those who like to do things their own way
It is precisely the fact that hardly any tourists ever find their way to Geremeas that explains why this place holds such a strong appeal for those who like to do their own thing. It has everything you need for a relaxing break by the sea – in just the right measure and seasoned with plenty of Mediterranean flair.
A few days to unwind, let your mind wander and find time for all the things – and the people – that get neglected in everyday life. A holiday without all the fuss: that’s Geremeas.
Experience Sardinia at a leisurely pace
The two unassuming entrances to the residential area give you a hint: in Geremeas, people appreciate the peaceful tranquillity. The well-known Hotel Cala Serena adds a lively touch. For shopping, there’s a small supermarket, as well as the usual café-bar and a – really good – pizzeria. “That’s it,” one might say, but that wouldn’t do justice to this beautiful corner of the world.
What makes Geremeas truly special is that you can actually spend your holiday here in complete tranquillity and, above all, with plenty of privacy. The beautiful villas built along the beach all date from a time when it was still considered good form to build on a grand (and spacious) scale. And so the whole village is imbued with an extremely relaxing air of la dolce vita and ‘the beach holiday as it should be’.
Trips to the surrounding area and the countryside
Geremea’s geographical location is also of interest. Located just under 40 kilometres from the island’s capital, this stylish residential estate is undoubtedly one of the coastal gems of Sardinia’s southern coast.
But that’s not all. The surrounding attractions – namely the large beach resorts of Villasimius and Costa Rei – are also just a 20-minute drive away. Not to mention the island’s capital, Cagliari, mentioned earlier, which has blossomed into an insider’s tip in recent years and can now easily rival far better-known Mediterranean destinations in terms of appeal and charm.
On the other hand, for those who’d rather breathe in a bit of mountain air, there’s an almost perfect route by car to the “Sette Fratelli” Nature Park, which embodies all the beauty of the Sardinian hinterland and is a true natural spectacle.
Dive in and get active
All well and good. But just relaxing isn’t really rest either. So it’s a case of keeping an eye out for something that brings body and soul together – sport.
Apart from the chance to play the usual ball games on the beach, our little village has a lovely range of activities on offer, particularly for divers. At the western end of Geremeas Beach, you’ll find the residential area of “Kal’e Moru” with its highly acclaimed diving school.
For road cycling enthusiasts, it’s worth mentioning that the nearby coastal road is a paradise for cycling fans. You do, however, need to be reasonably fit to tackle the ups and downs above the stunning sandy backdrop.
